Peace found me.
Stopping to rest on a bench in the redwoods.
A stolen moment in the late afternoon.
Sleepy sunlight filtering through the branches.
The wind blows with such gentleness.
I close my eyes so I can savor it.
There’s a hint of something earthy and sweet.
The ravens call to each other with purpose.
I am pulled into their mystery.
A curiosity opens.
Without thinking, a deep inhale and exhale.
My body softens.
And something deeper awakens.
Is it grief? Love?
It feels like home.
I sit for awhile receiving my own breath.
The ravens quiet down.
The wind stills.
Peace finds me.
Reminding me of eternity.
